About the artist

I am a photographic artist residing in the South Wales area. I have recently completed a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PcET) and before that I graduated in an MA Arts Practice (Fine Art) at The University Of South Wales.

My personal work focuses on ideologies that involve the family, memory and experience. Overtime my work has developed into an understanding of my experiences as a Mother and the overlooked.

I am also an artist who pursues commissioned work for health care settings. My work promotes positive health and well being for both patients and staff as well as enhancing spaces. I have also worked with staff and patients to influence my working progress and research. This continues to be an ongoing engagement.

I am also involved in a community arts project, ‘A Shared Walk’ whereby I collaborate with other artists who specialise in a variety of mediums.

  1. Hi Gemma, I am Angela Baker, Liz’s sister who the Renal Unit at Morriston Hospital is named after. Due to Covid I haven’t had a chance to see the new Renal Unit but look forward to seeing your work one day. Sadly Liz died of cancer out of the blue in 2017 having led the nursing staff at the unit since the beginning. This is a beautiful and fitting tribute to her memory. All the best. Angela X

    1. Hi Angela, it is lovely to hear from you! I really hope you get a chance to see it one day, it was a lovely and rewarding commission. I know from the staff there that Liz was very missed and much loved. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the work, all very best wishes, Gem x
